Who is OMNI?
OMNI was founded in the UK in 2019, with the sole aim of making the complex world of personal finance management more open and accessible to everyone. If we can help improve financial knowledge and confidence by offering an application to assist consumers to have greater access and control of their financial information and position, we will have played some part in elevating consumer confidence and ultimately life quality at both individual and society level.
How does OMNI work?
Our aim is to provide you with a complete picture of your asset and liability holdings. We do this collating your financial information via Open Banking. What is Open Banking?
Open Banking is a secure way for consumers to allow service providers access to their financial information. It was designed to bring more innovation to financial services and thus improve the range of products and services available to consumers. All UK regulated banks must let consumers share their financial data and associated spending habits, transaction information and vendor details with authorised providers, whenever they give their permission. Set up by the Competition and Markets Authority on behalf of the UK Government, with every service provider required to be regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) or European equivalent. Bt utilising Open Banking we can offer consumers innovative ways to manage their finances whilst they stay in complete control of who uses your data and for how long they can retain access.
What is Open Finance?
The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has outlined their vision of Open Finance, the next step in Open Banking. It would mean that where consumers give permission, financial data relating to mortgages, pensions, insurance, and consumer credit would be available to regulated third parties. Taking this next logical step on the Open Banking journey would in effect open up consumers entire financial picture, allowing consumers access to a wider range of innovative products and services. The vision is improved financial health for all consumers.
